Project Description

A traditional style residence with a modern internal layout. This home combines the best of both worlds; elegant traditional features such as crafted stone and the use of masonry construction, with a contemporary internal layout designed for modern living.

The overall design utilises modern construction techniques that promote effortless connectivity and flow from indoor to outdoor spaces, allowing each room aspect to face the gardens and river. The formal pool and landscape reinforces a stately feel, while the facade and verandahs are thoughtfully designed to soften the exterior and provide both functional living spaces and pleasing aesthetic features.

Project Description

This contemporary style home was created using a brick and timber aesthetic to provide overall consistency with neighbouring homes. The levels of the site were reconfigured to allow street presentation, with the entry designed to embrace its natural surrounds. Framing the entry are two modernist pitched roof forms which are juxtaposed by horizontal contemporary roof forms.

The North-facing rear of the house is transparent to maximise natural light and views. The terrace acts as an interface with the rear yard, creating effortless flow between indoor and outdoor spaces.

Project Description

This residence provides a perfect contrast between classic colonial and modern styles of design. The crafted modernist insertion allows for the recalibration of the interior space. The large glass doors act as operable walls, allowing for uninterrupted panoramic views beyond Teneriffe and Brisbane River from both the interior and exterior.

This modernist approach explores the concept of converting the interior space into a verandah. The house fuses contemporary light-weight materials with classic character elements.

Project Description

Born from the ashes of a 2018 fire that engulfed the century-old homestead, our renewed architecture seamlessly marries nostalgic charm with modern functionality.

The homestead’s restaurant Homage, set amid scenic landscapes, maintains a strong connection to its market garden, local growers, and traditional cooking. Hence, to strengthen this bond, the reimagined spaces seamlessly extend through spacious rooms into verandahs, ensuring that private boardrooms consistently maintain a link to the outdoor surroundings.

To craft a comfortable retreat for weekend guests, providing a home-like ambiance away, the lounge spaces are adorned with floor-to ceiling fireplaces, natural light and a warmth of materiality. This holistic re-imagination seamlessly intertwines the spirit of the old with the vibrancy of the new, crafting a timeless atmosphere that feels both familiar and innovative.

Project Description

This Traditional Queenslander in Paddington underwent a recalibration of the internal space to provide a link between the new city view verandah deck and the rear yard punctuated by the pool. The existing typography enabled a plan that transparently connects indoor and outdoor living spaces.

The plan structure was organised to maximise the number of rooms with a view of the city. The restoration work included traditional crafted detailing to reflect the character of a traditional Queenslander.

Project Description

This traditional home is surrounded by street frontage and parkland. As a result, we were able to create a transparent design that allowed for elevated views of both city and park throughout the interior.

The building form presents as an ordered period construction to the street. Given the one way approach to the site, garage access was located in a way that allowed for the traditional exterior to be fully viewable upon arrival. The acute angle of the panoramic city view influenced the layout to the rear, and with the provision of large stackable doors we were able to blur the threshold between interior and exterior.

Private areas for parents and children were created with a communal family space designed for day to day living. This home celebrates traditional styles of design through its intricate details and characteristics throughout.

Project Description

The removal of the existing home enabled the reconfiguring of the site to establish a contemporary home. Crafted with modernist horizontal contemporary concrete, the facade is shaped to soften the building form. This is punctuated by a wet edge pool visually linking with the ocean view beyond.

The glazing seamlessly integrates interior with exterior to maximise the elevated views. The use of materials such as Brick and Stone help reinforce this articulation and provides a visual connection between the levels.
