Project Description

The height of this contemporary home became important to provide a link to the streetscape. The house level was set to provide a seamless flow to the rear yard and Brisbane River.

Given the large setback to the street, the entry was formed as a beacon to clarify the point of arrival. The transparency of the entry glass prism is juxtaposed with the strong lines and materiality of a crafted zinc metal parapet and stone pillar.

Project Description

A Queenslander in Brookfield surrounded by leafy open space. The reworking and restoration of the existing home enabled the provision of contemporary living whilst staying true to its traditional features.

We consolidated the living areas to the rear of the home to provide connectivity with pool zones to suit the practical needs of a young family. Moulded timber detailing was added to fuse timeless traditional architecture with the modern way of life.

Project Description

The existing traditional home required a very hands on, robust approach to the architecture. Originally set below the road, we reconfigured the landscape and raised the house to create a seamless connection from street to home and satisfy both functional and aesthetic aspects.

The recalibration of the site continued to the rear where the lower floor open plan spaces now create a ready flow from indoor to outdoor. The upper floor renovation and addition ensures the view and Northerly aspect is visible from each room.

Project Description

A contemporary home with a timeless charm. The use of stone was inspired by the neighbouring homes of 1960’s origin to retain overall consistency.

The natural topography influenced the planning with the upper level encompassing city views. The middle level integrates the children’s bedrooms and living area, with uninterrupted connection to the garden and pool.

The large cross fall provides garage and storage to the lowest level. The home finishes with a flush palette and natural timber elements for an overall contemporary feel.

Project Description

The Ascot Residence is an amalgamation of a number of properties, including a traditional style house to the rear that was retained and repurposed. The extension to the second street frontage reframed the property entry with a generous verandah that offers a warm and welcoming feel.

The restoration and addition was designed with characteristics of the existing home in mind, offering a consistent personality throughout the entire property. All designs were carefully crafted to accentuate easy movement and flow from inside to outside and optimise overall liveability.

Project Description

This architectural project exemplifies the art of a seamless extension while preserving the intrinsic character of the residence. A philosophy rooted in the preservation of the original structure, the project aimed to rectify previous subpar extensions, paving the way for a contemporary living arrangement.

The design tailored for modern living consists of expansive openings fostering a seamless indoor-outdoor connection, a nod to our tropical climate. The existing pool remained a focal point, with the lower floor meticulously crafted to enhance connectivity and facilitate optimal entertainment spaces. Throughout, the original portion of the dwelling served as the guiding muse, informing every detail and culminating in the creation of a truly holistic home.
